Jordan joined chambers in October 2010 following successful completion of his pupillage. He has a general Chancery practice in all areas of work undertaken in chambers.
From October 2010 he undertook a secondment as a judicial assistant at the Court of Appeal where he was assigned to Lord Justice Pill and Lord Justice Wilson (now Lord Wilson of Culworth) but undertook work for all members of the court. He returned to chambers in April 2011.
Jordan acts in all areas of chambers’ expertise. He has a busy advisory practice and appears regularly in the High Court and County Courts. His recent experience includes:
In addition Jordan accepts instructions involving commercial matters. He is currently advising a pharmaceutical supplier in relation to the governing law of a contract for the sale of goods where one party is based in the USA. He was also recently instructed by the Ministry of Defence to assist with the preparation of a multi-million pound contractual construction dispute for arbitration.
Jordan also undertakes work concerning art and cultural property. During pupillage he attended what is thought to be the only ever oral hearing of the Spoliation Advisory Panel in a claim against the Samuel Courtald Institute for the restitution of a Rubens sketch valued at over £2million. He was recently instructed for the claimant in a case involving allegations of negligence against a major international auction house.
While at the Court of Appeal Jordan gained wide experience of Chancery and non-Chancery cases both at permission stage and full appeal stage. His role involved assisting the Lords and Ladies Justices with applications for permission to appeal, legal research and reviewing draft judgments.
He assisted on numerous appeal cases in areas as diverse as judicial review, landlord and tenant law and commercial law. Notable cases in which Jordan was involved while at the Court of Appeal include:
He was also involved in numerous cases which did not reach the full-hearing stage, including several involving matrimonial finance, allegations of undue influence, proprietary estoppel and allegations of negligence against solicitors and trustees.
